I've added metal plates to the front of the nesting boxes at Trev Towers so even though the woodpecker keeps going over for a look it is too big to get in and cannot widen the hole. The Great Tits have safely fledged from one box and the Blue Tits must be about ready to do the same from theirs. Fingers crossed as they also have to contend with lots of Magpies anf a pair of Jays that are often flitting through.

So which engine did you go for. Not the diesel I hope.

Default Smile of the day - What is yours?

You can hope.
There is practically no choice in the 7 seater market. But VED for the vehicle is fixed already and I don't drive in large cities. It comes down to financial risk if diesel is demonised (which has been spoken about for years with no action). Europe has a limited time to effect a change on us. I'm always very careful on cars and make sure we insulate against drops in the asset value.
Diesel values may drop by 15-20% so that's factored in.There is still equity in the asset especially as I'm not paying the depreciation by not buying new.

Actually it's a big grin more than a smile.Took a ride on my sons Hornet on Sunday, wow could not believe the smoothness of it, it's steering was as if on rails,I was knocked out by its overall slickness. It was the first time I've ridden an inline four for many years.Im not knocking the SV ( as it's the nicest all round bike I've ever had), but it sure felt agricultural after, !!!

Got a phone call from my boss to congratulate me on passing a management course

I'd got a certificate too.

Trouble was I'd only attended one of the training events, and didn't make any of the others

He passed too, as he went to the same event as I did, and thought it was so bad, that he refused to do anymore. I had domestic issues, so I couldn't make any of the other events

Still I passed, that's all that matters

What with grey squirrel, magpie, Jay (or any corvid), woodpecker, and sparrowhawk to contend with as well as local cats (too many to count, even with socks off) it is a wonder any birds make it to next year to breed themselves. The odds are certainly against them. Mind you the squirrels and magpies in our garden often get a dose of 'acute lead poisoning' of the .22 variety, pity cats are off limits tho'.

They're not all that clever either.
