Converting 02 650s to Naked
Looking to buy a 650/S and i want it to be a naked. How hard/expensive is it to convert. I just want the ugly panels gone.

Why not just buy a naked one?

I agree with Biker Biggles just buy a Naked one. You can convert it, but IMHO unless you like fiddling with things I wouldnt bother.
Whereabouts are you located ? and what sort of budget do you have ?

Hardest bit is finding the clocks and headlight. You may end up with aftemarket bits. I am having the same issues. Current thinking is an Acewell and random headlight.

Vapor is a good alternative for clocks. And motogadget look amazing, but only if you have a money tree in your garden

Re: Converting 02 650s to Naked
Im located in Raleigh, NC. Im willing to travel a bit but im not experienced at all. This would be my first bike. So a couple hour ride is intimidating.
My price range is about 3500. But i dont mind doing some work to the s to make it naked, as long as its not going to cost a lot and will be relatively not complex. Is there any websites where id have a chance finding a naked SV close by?> |

Re: Converting 02 650s to Naked
http://forum.svrider.com/ is a good place to start, I think.
The problem you'll have is that the clocks, apart from being different on S and N models, mount differently too. Its not difficult to fabricate something to do the job- I got a metre cut off of ally strip, and mounted them between the top yoke and clip ons, using longer clip on bolts. |
