Unhappy Dead Electrical

I was wiring a new license plate light and while testing one of the wires slipped and touched the frame and the whole electrical system died. I checked all of the fuses in the tail and none of them look like they blew out. There is power from the battery. Can someone please help me out here?

OK, for this to of caused an issue I would assume that the wires from the battery side touched the frame. Specifically the positive plate light wire grounded itself.

VERY unusual for that to cause a completely dead bike. Before now I've grounded the alternator on a frame (not the SV) and the bike lived.

Things to check. Erm? Fuses (again) inc main fuse (not in the fuse box).

Take out the main ignition fuse & check the flow in the thick orange wire (if this is below 7.3v I don't get an LCD on my pointy).

Check the feed going to the back of the ignition (red wire). If you have 12v down this wire, you have dash light power. The orange wire feeds the light switches, the red actually feeds dash panel with juice.

If I can think of anything more, I'll post back, but it could be a goosed ECU due to the spike. That'd be a nasty way to learn to insulate wires whilst you're working on the bike....

I guess it doesn't help to work with no light. I rechecked the fuses this morning and the main ign fuse was popped. I must have checked the spare fuse twice last night or something.. She lives again though
