They don't look like ovals, they look like wire nails to me as they have four pyramid points and are bright steel, (ie not galv), and the one to the far right looks to be an annular ring nail, looking at their diameter I would guess that they were about 1"-1 1/2" long originally, also they were in there for a reasonable while - the heads have worn away.

You upset anyone recently?

I don't think I've annoyed anyone recently, well no more so than usual.

My first thought when I took them out was cheap 1/2" panel pins. The bottom right one still looks like it has the original head on it. I'll take a proper look tomorrow.

I've just got the loupe out and taken a proper look.

They're definitely round, just under 1.6mm/16gauge and the longest of them are all around 12mm. Most of them have small, badly stamped ridges which I'd usually expect near the top of a panel pin.

So my money's on 1/2" panel pins and as Ian pointed out, if someone spilled them they're just not worth picking up.

I ended up having to stop on the way back from the AR with a good ol' puncture so you're not the only one who ended up with a flat.

No nails in mine but a nail sized hole.

That's really uninteresting isn't it? Sorry about that.
I had a rear tyre explode on my FZ6 after navigating a roundabout - the split was a good three inches across the tyre. It transpired that I'd run the front over a stanley blade which flipped it up ready for the rear to swallow it. It was a scary moment!
