throttle body sync cost?
hey guys
well basically looked through some thread but couldn't find what i was after i feel my throttle body isnt in sync, as the acceleration isnt instent maybe just me but think its not right, is best way to lift tank and twist the throttle to see if the moving in hormomie also main one whats the best way to sync them, meaning how much is it going to cost me to take it to a dealer for them to sort out or is it going ot be cheaper to buy the kit thanks alot phil

Re: throttle body sync cost?
Your profile doesn't say where you are, but I've recently agreed with another member of the .Org to bring their bike around to my place, and I'll sync the throttle bodies, fit a belly pan, adjust TPS (I'll come to this in a min), oil & filter change (if they want it), oil cables & generally have a bit of a poke around - all for the grand price of a couple of beer tokens.
Basically, to buy the kit yourself, you're looking at around £50 (add any postage costs to that). You can make some gauges yourself pretty cheaply if you're handy like that - just be careful to use a fluid that you don't mind being sucked into the inlet ports. If you're taking it to a dealership, it should take them 10mins tops to balance throttle bodies alone, but you may be subject to a minimum charge of up to an hour! If your throttle feels snatchy, Throttle Position Sensor could need moving a little too (2min job if you know what you're doing & have the tank up already). For that, you'll need a security torx bit (25 I think). Your throttle cables, and clutch cable may need adjustment as well. Small spanners for that, and again, only a couple of minutes. |

Re: throttle body sync cost?
Local independent bike mechanic said 'about £35' just to balance the throttle bodies, when I enquired last month. Would be less as part of a general service. Oh, "local" is North Wales / Cheshire.

Aint a problem if you want showing how to do it either, it's got to be the easiest way to save £35 I've ever known! Must remember to charge Ziv lots of beer tokens... |
