Hi Lance,

just a quick update. I have pulled out my swing arm and needed to fit one shim into the space between the bearing spacer and the arm.

I thought that fitting the shims would just stop the little play in the arm, but I did not realise that the small squirm I often felt when braking or accelerating hard was caused by that play. How do I know this? Well it has now gone, my bike feels more stable when giving it a handful or braking hard enough to make my face slump under my chin!

Nice work there Sir, have a gold star.

Hugs
xxxxxx

these are 0.50mm 316 Stainless Steel and will reduce the lateral play in the swingarm bearings. from all of the pointy swingarms i have had the pleasure of having in my grubby paws most of them have had a +/- 1.20mm play.

these will not however fix worn bearing play which is entirely different, they are designed to be installed when you are replacing or servicing the swingarm bearings.

most people that have taken the play out of the swingarm have reported that the bike handles better in corners and i would also confirm this.

price for these will be £3.50 a pair posted to the UK and like the rest of my products that includes a donation of £1 to help keep sv650.org running.

If you have any left, could I purchase a pair?

Something on my bike squeaks every time I go over a bump and I suspect it's the rear suspension bearings

yup got a few pairs left

a simple external check for the swingarm bearings is to bounce the back end. it should bounce easily, but its pretty guaranteed if they have never been looked at with a bike that has 25k+ miles they will be burgred. be prepared to have your wallet emptied by mr suzuki.

pm on its way.

Yeah I stripped down the back end a few years ago to change the shock and stupidly did nothing about the bearings. The suspension has a tendency to bind slightly as well - doesn't fully return to position for a few secs then nudges your bum when you come to a complete stop. Hopefully it won't become a slap until after the summer!
