Re: Stupid oil checking question
You do have to lean over quite far. But no Inspector Gadget style appendages are necessary. Try it.
Unless you have low blood pressure, then you tend to black out and it all goes downhill from there. Literally. Oh and if you have a bad back, you can probably do this, but getting back up is a challenge. In fact, scrub this, do it Bibio's way. Much more sensible. Unless you pull the bike too far...

Re: Stupid oil checking question
Don't you get your chauffeur to check your oil levels like I do? I believe the under gardener holds the bike upright for him while the hall boy holds an inspection lamp, although quite why they insisted I bought one of those is beyond me - the candles were working fine and that fire the other year was totally their fault and only injured a few of them...

Re: Stupid oil checking question
Lmao!
Seriously though - the distance between the hole in my lower fairing and the sight glass is so far that you have to lean miles forward and your head is close to the ground. I would like to see any non-giraffe manage it. 2001 curvy. Last edited by Blapper; 21-09-16 at 08:46 AM. |

No guidance yet on how to get the bike 100% vertical

Re: Stupid oil checking question
Well that's easily solved. Crash. Ditch the smashed up plastics. Ride like a real man and check your oil with liberty and reckless abandon. No African species were harmed in the writing of this silly suggestion.

Re: Stupid oil checking question
That's easy as well. If you follow Bibio's method, and let go when you think it's about right - if it falls over, it wasn't exactly 100% vertical.
PS not recommended when there's even a slight breeze

Re: Stupid oil checking question
I stick it on the side stand, take a knee on the sight glass side and pull the bike towards me until it's on it's balance point. Then when I'm done gently lower it back over onto the side stand.
