Default Drivers License Question

Hi,

Got a quick question regarding my license I hope some of you could shed some light on. I passed my full bike test back in 2012 and then passed my driving test Apr' 14.

If you receive more than 6 points in your first two years of holding a full UK license you will have it revoked. Now, my question is will this be from when I passed my bike test or the car test?

Cheers!

Andy.

Your first full licence, i.e.: your bike licence in 2012. Have we been a naughty boy....?

Hi Andy,
I believe that it is 2 years from passing your driving test whatever category, and are considered a new driver/rider upon passing further test categories. My understanding is that any points accumulated go on to your driving license which includes all relevant categories. The DVLA website would be worth a visit for confirmation.

its from the date of first test pass be it car or bike it makes no difference as long as its a full uk licence. when you add another category and you have already done your two years probationary as driver they cant turn the clock back so you have 12 points to play with.

Default Drivers License Question

I kind of wish it was separate some times. So you could have points for each category.

That way if you are unlucky enough to lose your bike you can still drive your car for work etc

Thanks for your responses chaps, rode to and from Bristol to Southampton the other night and think I may have been caught on the M4 around Swindon.

Anyone know if there's cameras above the gantry's on that stretch?

Completely agree about them being separate, now for the fun two week wait!

Motorways are usually front facing aren't they? If so, you're fairly safe as they can't get your number plate from that angle.

I'm happy to stand corrected but I believe that they can catch you on the front facing as they are permitted to use other cameras to show your plate as long as they can match up the date and time. From what I understand if it's a one off and you aren't doing silly speeds you'll probably get away with it, but repeat offenders and those attempting the break the land speed record will get them fired up to make a special effort to track you down.

Whilst you might well be right, how would they know? If they could identify you for the first offence, they would fine you, same as anyone else they caught. If they didn't identity you, they wouldn't know it was a repeat offence.
