How *noisy* is this bike supposed to be....
Just taken the sv round to brothers garage for a couple of nights (due to predicted strong winds).
Now I ALWAYS wear earplugs but thought oh well its only a mile so won't bother. Oh my god how noisy! I honestly couldn't ride like this on a day to day basis. In fact to me it sounds so *rough* and *mechanical* I started to think there may be something wrong with it. Of course this is me being stupid as it ran perfectly well last week (with me wearing plugs). So my question is does anyone else think their bike sounds *rough* when not wearing earplugs etc?? I suppose its because its a twin as well?? |

Mine sounds lovely, whack the throttle open and there's a big roar from the induction. It's ace

My bike always sounds better when I have ear plugs in. Just sounds harsh and rattly without. Mind you I have one of those nasty in line 4's.......and a Honda to boot.

Re: How *noisy* is this bike supposed to be....
yeah think its just me worrying about every noise from the bike although I don't think its something i could get used to. Still an easy fix - will just carry on wearing earplugs!!
Some time ago I had a quick blast on my dads new 650 bandit and that just seemed so smooooth. Don't get me wrong though I prefer the power charachteristics of the my SV. |

Twins have a certain rawness about them, that's why some of us prefer them to an IL4. |

My dad actually prefers my engine (*roughness* and all) but prefers the upright riding position on his bike. And I am inclined to agree that the more upright riding position makes me feel like just taking everything easy and cruising along. I do sometimes think I would like a IL4, although on the flipside if I did have to cane it to get everywhere maybe not! Had the SK3 since new and not sure if I am getting bored of it? Before this there was a 10 year gap and my last bike was a suzuki RG250 - good memories But then I probably don't even use all the performance this has. Its not that often i hit 9k rpm. |

Neio...
Add an Akrapovic to the kwak and take the baffle out... and dont change gear till you bounce the rev limiter ! then you know what loud is ! though you will have broken the speed limit in 1st gear at that point, and have bleeding ears ! |
