Make sure there's no powdercoat residue left in the threads it's the best threadlock known to mankind.

Re tap the threads as it won't affect the performance

Yes the tap will just clean out the threads. No need to touch the metal.

If you are mounting components metal to metal your not going to get the same torque with the pliable powder coating.

Took my SV off its stands. The upgraded front end and overhauled brakes felt good on a tiny run out! I even managed to paint the exhaust (using stove paint so that I didn't have to remove it again) and fitted some foot peg riser plates. Rear brake is to overhaul next, then sort out the fairing.

Spent all afternoon swapping the European headlight unit on my curvy for a British one. Gave me the chance to tidy up a couple of small odds and ends while I was at it. Got it all back together again and discovered the front brake light switch is playing up and the large block connector behind the top fairing is a bit intermittent, causing the headlights to come on in random fashion when I switch them on. Grrrr! Back off with the fairings again tomorrow to sort it out.
Still, at least it'll give me the chance to reconnect the sidelight which I forgot to do when I was putting it all back together this evening.

Fitted one of Bibio's gadgets to wire in my GPS, easy to fit and does exactly what it says on the tin. Hardest part was figuring out how to route the GPS cable up to the front of the bike.

Then spent a couple of hours trying to get the PoS Chinese bike my friend bought last year to start.

Yesterday was spent trying to fit 2 sets of race bodywork to 2 Sv650 race bikes.

Bearing in mind the fairings were specific to the SV650 99-02, the fit was not what you'd expect. Many, many hours and I was only assisting. What a pain in the backside, should have just fitted a belly pan and front number board.
