Re: Bike (s) you miss?
Sorry, don't miss any. Not that I've owned many.
The one I have now is the best, by miles.

Re: Bike (s) you miss?
I adore what I have now, but I do miss my SV, would love to try an SV1000, but can't fit that in the garage as well atm

Re: Bike (s) you miss?
It's interesting that the bikes I seem to miss aren't the ones that add up to all the promises of the manufacturer's technical hype, but the ones that gave me a certain feeling. Not the most perfect practical examples that we're led to believe are great. The GSXR was far from practical and definitley not perfect in many ways, but it was great fun. I loved opening up the garage to see it there. I loved hearing it start up and blipping the throttle to move away. I wasn't too bothered about gunning it in a straight line, although the sound was good as it screamed up the revs. There was a gritty gutteral sweet spot in the mid rev range that made the bike tingle and reminded you you're riding wrapped around a beast of an engine.
I am missing it. Looking back at some helmet cam footage of a couple of rides on it that I still have in a Gopro and enjoying living them again, even if it is on a little screen.

Re: Bike (s) you miss?
Sounds like you need to buy another one when the world is settled.
Maybe get an older girl like mine, she's still more bike than I can really handle. Not practical, but I love it. I'll be keeping it till she dies - only shame is that she has nearly 29,000 miles and at 11,000 a year commuting that won't be long enough - hoping for another 3-4 years. I love the way in 4th gear if you have to ease off quickly after accelerating (or are doing it for fun) the exhaust back fires. Still hasn't gotten old - (only done on the A10 - so not annoying peeps in their houses) Especially in the dark, I swear I saw a flicker of a flame in my mirror. Best £3500.00 I spent.

Re: Bike (s) you miss?
You probably did, my old SV used to shoot flames out the back when it was resticted and ruined the tune.

Re: Bike (s) you miss?
I have been looking. Seems like people still want a lot for the 750 and 600s though. I can't imagine much is selling right now but people are still trying for dealer prices for private sales.

Re: Bike (s) you miss?
MY previous F800St. I got everything sorted on it and it was only a 'toy'. Was a great companion for long distance travel, trips away or just an early morning ride. I knew it inside out and had solved all issues on it, so it was very reliable, dependable and never gave me issues.
My new ST is now at this level after plenty of maintenance, and also ensuring everything is working as should. Lots of trips planned on is this year to make some good memories. |

Re: Bike (s) you miss?
Quite a few really but this is probably the only one I'd like back. 1952 BSA M21 600cc side valve single. Over engineered and underpowered, did thousands of miles on this and had huge fun doing it. This picture was taken around 1989 in the Pyrenees on a trip down through France and into Spain.
