18,000 mile service. Any good mechanics in Berkshire

Hi

My 2007 pointy needs its 18,000 mile service (I think that is the next service after 15,000).

I am happy to do an oil change etc but I like to have my bike given a once over as I am relatively new to bike maintenance and use it everyday so like the knowledge everything is adjusted and running right.

Is the 18,000 just oil/oil filter/ spark plugs?

I am looking for an indy as my local Suzuki dealership is George Whites and they are not cheap!

Not sure about who could do the work for you, but assuming the valve clearance check has been done, then yes to oil, oil filter and spark plugs you could check your service history to be certain of the spark plugs; personally, I change them every other oil change Have you had an air filter change yet? Inspect it at least for any dirt and stuff

You can do a few checks yourself; are the brakes binding at all? If you can see the brake pads, is there alot of material left? When was the alst time the brake fluid was changed?

does the chain need tightening? At 18,000 miles you might start getting in the the zone of "i need a new chain and sprocket set", so check the condition of the teeth on both sprockets; are they hooked? (i find the front sprocket gets more hooked than the rear). It might not be a bad idea to get the cables lubricated, and the throttle bodies balanced to ensure good smooth running and optimum fuel economy

Check the tyre pressures and coolant level; if the coolant hasnt ever been changed, then get that changed aswell maybe

Yep spannerman you are not to far from me. Could you please send me a quote for a 18,000 mile service on a 2007 SV650 fully faired. It had the 15,000 service done so valve clearances etc will not need doing.

you have selected the correct thing to do

isn't the 18,000 mile service just the 4k one again?

yes it is fallen angel but needs to be bit more through is check shock lube em and replace brake fluid quite abit really
