Not sure if this is any use as I have never tried them on a SV but I like EBC pads personally.

EBC fronts are around £40 for the sport type (HH Sintered) or about £33 for road (OE replacement) type

Goldfren HH pads are cheap. I found them an improvement on standard pads.
Plenty on ebay.

I've got EBC GG type (road, OE) on the rear, and HH type on the front of my (01) and I'm very pleased with them, they give a good bite. Can't compare them to much though because this is my first proper bike.

Aye - I dont even know what type of pads I have on mine, but judging from my caliper overhaul I reckon I have a 2-3k left before they'll need doing.

Much difference between HH and OE for road riding?

HH pads give better bite IMO.
