Sat Nav mount on 2005 sv650s
I have just bought a tomtom one v4
http://www.gpssatnavsystems.co.uk/wp...-Rear-View.jpg Whats the best mount i can buy to fit the sat nav too my bike? Option 1 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTORCYCLE-BIK...item5d25c5be95 Were could i mount this? on this bike. I am not 100% sure the way the bracket attaches to the sat nav is 100% secure, it kinda clips on and clips off with very little pressure. Option 2 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Motorcycle-Mou...item518c7b439f This one looks better and probably more secure, but again where can the bracket be attached to the bike? Option 3 various RAM brackets, i just cant figure out which one would work/be best http://www.buybits.com/Catalogue.aspx?cid=2122 Before anyone says anything, i am a cheapskate and will not splash out £400 on a tomtom rider thanks ian |

Re: Sat Nav mount on 2005 sv650s
checked the RAM site andthey dont do any for the v4 with the round speaker on the back?
no bags needed cellotape over the speaker vent and a bit of clingfilm does the job if it rains. 99% of the time i ride inthe dry anyway, but thanks for the tip. |

Re: Sat Nav mount on 2005 sv650s
Another vote for Telferizer. I used Bob for my SprintST - lots of pictures in this thread:-
clicky Used the satnav for a 680 mile weekend trip to Wales shortly after I fitted it - excellent visibility of satnav & all clocks, the RAM bracket means it fixes absolutely rock solid, no danger of it dropping off and bouncing down the road. The only problem with the RAM site is that there are SO many different options - speak to Bob (contact details are in my post in the linked thread above), tell him what satnav and bike you are fitting it too and he will send you the mount and all the correct RAM brackets - simples.

+1 Thats how i use mine, trouble with a lot of these mounts is you cant use the base with them i think so cant charge it. Im gonna get a spare tom tom original mount with an eye and make my own, with a few standard bits from elsewhere. Until i can justify £400 for a tom tom rider |

Re: Sat Nav mount on 2005 sv650s
On the SV I just slip the GPS into the map pocket in the top of my tank bag. I don't need to worry about not removing it and having it pinched. It also doesn't vibrate around and it stays dry which may be a concern if the unit is not waterproof.

Re: Sat Nav mount on 2005 sv650s
Thanks for all the advice so far, i had a 2002 sv650s with a standard tomtom suction mount with a combination of several different cable ties holding the bracket to the yokes. I then added a strip of electrical tape to the bracket where the tomtom slips into the bracket so that it was a tight fit and would not pop out.
I now want a more proffesional job on my 2005 sv that cost about £30 or so. |
