As a novice I know for a fact I've been going around sweeping bends and suffered from watching the hedge getting nearer and nearer and had to counterterrorism myself out of fixating on the hedge. Can't remember the term for it, something like object fixation?

Counter steering is critical and the amount of force that sometimes needs to be applied to the inside bar is substantial & surprising. I've done quite a lot of reading on road going motorcycle accidents and in a large proportion the motorcycle had the capacity (grip) to not crash but the rider was unable to use it for whatever reason.

your problem is you have never been taught how to read the road.

''look where you want to go not where you are going'' and yes this means turning your head so your eyes are looking round the bend and not at staggered apex's which most people do. you need to keep a look for the exit of the bend at all times.

dont 'choke the chicken' on the bars. by this i mean keeping a tight grip as chucca said you only need to use your palms and your fingers are for the brake and clutch levers.

Just to add.Never cross the centre line and watch out for idiots coming wide on the bends from the other direction.
