Default Sky Plus with freesat

Has anyone managed to get Sky plus working with a freesat from sky card?

A mate of minw was asking me about the freeview PVR boxes and I has a brainwave to save a few quid.

Plan is to get a second hand Sky plus box and dish from Ebay, get a freeview card from Sky then watch and record freeview channels.

Does anyone know of anyone who has done this sucessfully?

Did have a freesat card in a Sky+ box, but no recording facility. You need a Sky card to do this

Easier to buy a Freesat reciever with PVR facility (USB connector, connect a hard drive to this)

Could not record at all. Sky is very clever in stopping you doing stuff with their boxes

Sky+ box cost me nothing on freecycle and was being used to watch Freesat channels, as I can't get digital freeview in my area. Sky are obliged to give you a freesat card. You pay them a one off cost for the card, after that its free

I'm thinking about getting one of these

HD and you can record to an external HD. I don't think you can get the Freesat channels on it, but it might depend which satellite you point it at.

But it'll recieve all the free to air channels
