I just sold my ten year old curvy for about that dosh. Fabulous condition, just 13,000 miles. Keep looking as the others have said.

I don't think you will regret buying an SV. Odd in their own way but great fun. EBay is great if you have time to loose a few auctions and can pick a winner. Good luck.

Heres something to look at. Won't help you because the listing has ended, but there are deals to be had.

You have proven yourself to be a man of good choice bandanaman - pointy is the way to go....

Same as what others have suggested - keep looking. When it comes to the first bike (or even later ones) sometimes you get quickly tempted into buying the first one you like...take your time and think over when you see the bike you like...

Once again, thank you very much for the replies people, I'm taking what you say on board

A bike I have just come across is this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV6...#ht_500wt_1202

What do you guys reckon? To me it looks like a pretty good deal. The only downside I can spot is that the downpipes look a bit corroded, or does that look normal for the age?... Oh, and obviously I'd have to make do with it not being a pointy, but I think I could live with that

Whatever the case, you have made me realise there are some very good deals out there if I have some patience.

Looks ok from the description.Being one owner the seller should be able to answer every question you may have--------Why did it need a new tank and body panels?Look at things like brake pads tyre wear and how old the chain and sprockets are for a budget to keep it on the road or bargaining on the price. When is it due a service and ask if the valve clearences were checked and when.(Should have been done at about 15000 miles.)

Looks OK if it checks out. £1,100 max for me.

And from his ad "wife forces sale, not been thrashed".

EDIT : If the downpipes are standard, then they're not corroded. They're stainless and can be returned to their former glory.

Looks pretty good to me. I spent ages looking for mine, went to see a lot of bikes before I bought it. Looks very similar to the one that I got. I ended up buying mine for circa £1800 - it had new chain and sprocket, 6 months tax and MOT, Remus revolution end can, single seat cover, custom colour coded seat and 7,500 miles.

Reckon that's a good buy.....
