Giving over the reins....
Following on from the SHOCK HORROR thread on pillions.
As a rider, do you mind being a pillion occasionally? I'm not fussed as long as it's someone I know, preferrably without a deathwish. But a mate of mine absolutely refuses to go pillion. He says he needs to be in control. Never had a 'moment' whilst on the back or any real scares as a rider either except one low speed off when he had his 125 and he once did an overtake at a very silly moment when he stared at death in the shape of a Scooby grille. Do you need to be in control? |

I only rode pillion once, 13 or 14 years ago, and absolutely hated it. I couldn't manage to stay neutral and just go along for the ride. I'd guess it'd be even worse now!

I really dislike riding pillion unless I have to. I think it's because every time I feel the bike move about, I think it's not doing it due to my inputs (which of course it isn't) and hence it "feels" to me like I've lost control of the bike.

I have no idea whether I'd like being a pillion or not, nobody has offered me a ride.
I last went as a pillion when I was 6 and I regularly went to sleep back then. |

I don't actually mind riding pillion, but very rarely do so as I've usually got my own bike. If someone wants me to see what their bike is like I either ride mine with them or ride theirs.
Though the comment from my last outing as a passenger did make me smile - "I almost forgot you were there, I mean, my loaded panniers shift about and weigh more than you do!" I'm not too sure, but I think it was a compliment. |

I think its fun. There's something good about knowing that if you do come off, your bike is still in your garage and not sliding down the road. It is fun, but it does get hairy when you get people trying to show off.

I don't like going pillion, I don't like taking a pillion. I have been described as a selfish control freak before...
