Default Cbr600rr

Thinking of getting a new bike and am liking the look of the 2009 CBR600RR. Will book a test ride sometime of course and am looking forward to trying something new as the SV is the only bike over 125cc i have owned.

Am looking for info from anyone who has tried the CBR and what i can expect compared to my 05 pointy. All i have done so far is sat on one and i liked the the riding position.

Mine is a 2006 but I find it much more comfy compared to the SV over long distance 250+ miles etc.

Loads of people will no doubt comes on telling you it will feel less powerful low down but thats ******** as you will find out on the test ride. They also need to be ridden slightly different to the SV as they are obviously IL4 as opposed to V2

The 2009 has slightly more power than the 2006 bike I have but they are still feel similar. The pull as hard if not harder than the SV from the word go, when you hit 10kprm for the first time you WILL need to change your underpants.

Incredible bikes, good choice.

Also Binky recently rode one back to back with his SV. So may be able to gie you much better low down on comparison to the SV.

The real difference will be felt with the handling and the brakes. You'll notice it most if you ride a road on it you often ride on your SV. You will be pootling along around some corners and realise you just took them a damn sight faster than you normally would have and it felt relatively safe doing so.

Thanks for the encouragement

I like to take the bike abroad and it is good to hear they are comfy for long miles.

Have had the SV since new so will just have to adjust my riding to IL4 i suppose.

I have the road to test it on just in mind as i use it a lot with SV and it is within a few miles of the dealer.

I had my SV for 14 months before buying a 600rr. It took a couple of hundred rides before I really clicked with the IL4 and it truely made sense.

I dont know about you, but after 50 miles on the pointy SV I found my wrists aching and normally had a very numb bumb, which often caused pins and needles where you really dont want them.

I have done over 400 miles in a day on my 600rr last year pretty much only stopping for fuel and a lunch break at Symonds Yat. Completely without any aches or pains.

Good choice.

Get a test ride on a 675 triumph to, thats a very underrated bike.

R6 is best left on track, gsxr600 has the lowest seat of all the sports 600's, zx6 is good to.

Go have fun with a day of test rides, then pick the one you like.

Went to the dealer to see a 675 but i am not that tall so could not get my feet down confidently.

Tried friends R6 and felt i was strecthing a bit more than i wanted over the tank.

GSXR 600 fitted me really well when i sat on one but i prefer the CBR for some reason. However you are right and i should test more than just one bike.

You wont feel much difference in performance between all the SS600's It how you feel whilst on them.

I really liked the GSXR600 in black, but at 6ft pretty much bang on, it was just a bit to short for me. The 750 even more sexual but same frame and same shortness problems, and insurance

The R6 just seemed weird and my girlfriend didnt like the seat and she comes on a fair bit.

I've abused the 675 enough in the past. It's easily the best looking but I found it really tall and thin and couldnt get on with it.

Try and test ride the bikes if you can, I know there is a big difference in the way the power is delivered between a K7 GSX-R 600 and a CBR600RR5 (same as G's, essentially), for example.
Also, comfy is relative I find my GSX-R more uncomfortable than my SV was, it really depends on the person it seems. There's more weight on the (my) wrists on my GSX-R.
