Default Insurance question.

Phoned two insureres and they couldn't answer this question. Which is worrying!

I had a prang in September. I was filterting at about 10-15mph and car decided to do U tirn without looking or indicating. My insurance company have paid for the repairs to my bike as the battle is still on going. However, my insurance ends on 1st March and I want to go with another company purely as it's just much cheaper. Do I have to put the accident down as a fault? Liability has not been decided yet and most companies either have it as Fault or No fault. While I am 100% sure I was not at fault you never really know how these things will go.

Any advice would be good.

I'd just say No Fault. If circumstances change in the future, phone them back up and get a re-quote on Fault. Innocent till proven guilty an all that.. !!!

I think as liability is still being contested it is a fault, until it is resolved. Then if you're found to not be at fault then you will get your NCB/cash back.

I was afraid this would be the case. In which case I go from ?210 to ?521.

They will ask have you been involved in an accident/insurance claim in the the last X years. Then they will probably ask were you at fault.

If its still being contested then i don't think they will accept that as no fault.

I had a 100% no fault claim and when i added the accident, my premium went up by £80 with one insurer. Why?

It's cos they see you as a higher risk because you got into an accident, i.e. you might get into more. IMO it's complete rubbish, they assessed your ability/likelihood to get into accidents prior to that, so why has that now changed? You aren't any more likely to get into an accident IMO.

Dan,

im going throught the same shiet with bennets at the mo. I had a prang on the bandit in august( not my fault as i was stainoary) Claim still outstanding, now taking court action. When i went to change of bike with them, because it undisputed, i am at fault untill a claim is settled and i have to pay for 2 insurances. The SV and the bandit., Which does Pee me of a bit.

Sadly you have to put it down as an at fault accident until it is resolved, hopefully in your favour.

Insurance is like tax. The cards are always stacked against you.
