Gear Selector Foot Peg
Hi,
Driving home last night, approached a roundabout, began down shifting, nothing there as in no gear selector . Negotiated the roundabout by coasting round and safely pulled up in a layby. Looked down to where it should've been and there it is hanging down still connected to the rod thingy (apologises for description I'm sure someone knows the proper word for it). On inspection it appears the bolt holding the selector in place has become undone. Fortunately, I was able to screw the bolt back in place. My concern is, while the selector was hanging down did anything fall off which should keep the bolt from working loose. I viewed a K3 this morning and it appears on this model the gear selector and foot peg are connected to the mainframe together. Whereas my K4 the selector and foot peg are attached separately. Does anyone have any comments. Cheers T0mm0 |

You're not the first person this has happened to.
You can tighten it up properly yourself - take the circlip off and slide the lever off to get at the bolt. Trying to do it up with the lever still on the bolt wont work. |

Ah yes... you've got one of those crappy k4's haven't!
I still think the ideal of the pointies is the K3, everything there after was a compromise!

Hi,
Thanks to everyone for your responses. Its reassuring to know, I'm not the only one who has this problem. Thor - It sounds like a good idea to loctite the bolt in place. Cheers T0mm0 |

Yeah, it's one of the reasons why I clean my bike so often. It get's me to go round and check all the eternal bolts and linkages. That's how I noticed mine was loose.

Its got me thinking, what else is loose or about to fall off.
I clean her on a weekly basis and didn't notice. Cheers T0mm0 |

Not heard of anything that's common, just check them all.
