Default New Bikey...

Well, after being firmly set on getting an '02 R6 in red, I impulsively hit "buy it now" yesterday and bought....

ninja small.JPG

A green ZX7R. It was the right price (£1200) and not too far away. Went to have a ride on the bike before buying and all seems ok, other than needing the calipers rebuilding cos they were rubbish. Will probably get them powder coated at the same time as the typical Kwak poor finish is showing through.

More pics here:

1997
19k miles
6 months t+t
Bridgestone BT014's that will need changing in the not too distant future
DB screen
Wavey front disks
Viper race can with OEM (rotten as hell) downpipes
Service history, including recent front fork overhaul
Tail tidy / undertray
Mini indis
Tiny dent on tank and a small amount of plastic missing from the under side of the belly pan - looks like it was pushed down a curb and didn't have enough ground clearence.

So, my list of stuff to sort on her over winter:
Strip down rear shock linkage and grease
Strip and refurb all calipers
Fit braided hoses
Possibly refurb rear shock depending on funds or source an aftermarket replacement
Consider painting wheels again, although they are remarkable good for a bike of this age
Strip carbs and possibly vit jet kit
Check valve clearence and balance carbs
Fit R&G's

Not for a while yet. it isn't insured and won't be until November. i probably won't bother riding it until I've sorted all of the above. I've got the ZZR for riding through winter, so I might keep this one for spring. No doubt I'll take it out at some point if the weather is good but not till the brakes are sorted.

Well batted - they're heavy old buses but great fun and look the business.

Bad timing though - I've just flogged a perfectly sound set of 7R downpipes on ebay for peanuts!

Bu**er. I have my eye on a set going in London with an ART can so might get them and flog the can. You don't by any chance still have the haynes manual for it do you, or ay other bits and bobs?

I'm fairly sure I have the manual somewhere in the garage - I'll see if I can find it at the weekend. I may have a few other random odds and sods as well, but I think the last few random bits were skipped when I moved.

Nice one man. If you can dig it out that would be great. Swap you for an SV one (or some money)

You can have it gratis - I tried punting it out on ebay but it didn't sell, so as far as I'm concerned its cash value is zero.
