Blimey Phil!! That site has a few places I used to live!!
RAF Sculthorpe was one. The fella there managed to take pictures of the school I used to go to!! Mad!! I'd be up for a ride out if you decide to go visit Sculthorpe. Not far from sunny hunny either!! If I have a road bike of course. Unless anyone takes me pillion!!

Re: Few rideouts to some of these places?
There's an old airfield and a Museum a couple of miles from my house Phil, which has some buildings still standing, and a few AA gun positions, and has a public footpath and a green lane running right through it, ridden through a few times on the XT.
http://g.co/maps/6a283 Used initially as a training base for Wellington crews, then in 1943 to base the USAAF's 801st / 492nd Bomb Group (The Carpetbaggers), covert operations to supply, drop and collect special forces from occupied territories during WW2, then used in the 50's as one of the UK's ballistic missile sites. The airfield was at it's busiest in 1944 when used to supply The Battle of Normandy. http://harringtonmuseum.org.uk/ |
