Re: sony PS3
I won one, pretty cool! =)
Good points: Great graphics, good games coming out in the future, HDMI output, built-in wireless, blu-ray, quiet Bad points: Fugly, huge, not so many good games out for it right now, controllers feel tacky. All in all, I wouldn't buy one, just for how much they cost, but I'd happily win one and use it ^^

Re: sony PS3
I recieved one just the other week and first impressions are good!
Only got the one game at the minute, GRID, which is the best racing game I've ever played! No bad points so far, setup was easy and straight forward. Was dissapointed it didn't come with a HDMI cable though. I reckon the PS3 is superior to the Xbox 360 (I've had one of those). The internet browser is awesome and the built in wi-fi makes it more 'complete' than the 360. So is it really for your lad, or do you fancy one for yourself eh? :P Oh, and I got mine for free with a phone contract - not sure if I'd buy one though, they are a lot of dollar! |

Re: sony PS3
Just get yourself one and stop trying to justify it by saying it's for your son!
I love mine, it's getting hooked up to my new Hi-def projector soon, 8 foot wide hi-def gaming! Woohoo!

Re: sony PS3
Love mine but dont play games on it, well hardly. It records tv progs, it plays blue (ray) movies, plays all my downloaded movies, talks to my walkman and psp. Its a nice polished piece of kit, as opposed to the Xbox which sounds like an angle grinder most of the time.

Re: sony PS3
You do have to spend another £55 on a USB gizmo called playtv - but it then becomes a pretty good dual tuner freeview recorder, with some cleverness thrown in. You can also then move the recorded progs to your pc or laptop and watch them in media player, edit them for youtube etc.
