Moving To Stockport - Cheshire.
Well my sister dropped a bombshell tonight she is moving to a place called Great Moor, close to Stockport Cheshire. We are from Kent so its a fair trek away. Just wanted to know if anybody on here is a local there who I might just ask a few nosey questions too please. About pubs, schools etc.

There is civilisation beyond the M25 y'know. And beyond the M42 too. And even the M60

Cool Ed thanks buddy, though I was looking for a more informed response. But at least I got a response I was worried it was looking like it was being ignored, boo hoo.

You might want to post this question in the Border Patrol or Pennine Massive sections, where it will be more visible to locals.

Why don't you take yourself to Stockport - it really isn't far from you - and have a look yourself?? I can't say I know the town well, but I do know Manchester (15 miles up the road) very well and can confirm that it's an OK place to live.

Thanks, I spent some time iving in Sale in the early 90s that was a fun time. So I know the area, but it was a long time ago. Just wanted to see if anybody on here was a local?

For the Stockport area, it's okay. Not aware of any schools issues (been away a long time!) but Stockport Grammar is good if she's the fee-paying type. Stockport town centre is a bit rough on the pub-front but local to Great Moor it should be okay. Close enough to go into Manc though, and the Levenshulme "Curry Mile" is always a laugh (but don't stray off the main road/well lit areas ) Tbh, your sis would be better moving to south of Stockport (Davenport, Hazel Grove, Poynton, High Lane, Disley, Marple, Offerton) is she could afford a more expensive house [edit, I'm origianlly from Disley, btw, so a little less objective than ideal ] Last edited by Jabba; 18-05-09 at 11:30 AM. |
