Default Couple of questions.

Hi all .. just joined, looks like a great forum you lot have here . Passed my test 7 months ago at 19 and got a new K6 SV and since then i did a few things to it. I'm thinking of changing the can again this time to a high level Blue Flame one but the thing is i have a R&G tail tidy fitted and using the OE indicators and i'm not sure if the can will clear it or not? Also would it be possible to use a K&N filter with an aftermarket exhaust without having to change the fueling? I'm afraid of her running lean. I'm going to need new tires shortly aswell so any recommendations?

Cheers,

Lee

First of all mate, dunno if I'd buy Blue Flame myself - a few lads (& lasses,) on here have had problems with poor build quality on them - i.e. the cans self-destructing on them etc! OE 'cators will probably foul the can if you go high-level with it...

I had a Remus high-level can on mine and ended up getting some Motrax LED arrow 'cators to prevent the fouling issue!

Again, you should be OK with this as you are fuel injected, but if you are worried you can have the bike Dyno'd and either re-mapped by someone with a Yoshi' box or go to the extra expense of a Power-Commander, but this isn't necessary My bike was fine with a K&N and after-market can without fuelling issues

Definitely, definitely, definitely go for Metzler Z6's - the feel you get from them is awesome compared to the 5hitty Dunlop D220's that come on the bike from new

Good luck with it & stay safe

First off welcome to the club mate. You have made a fine choice. I bought my K4 new when I was 18 and never looked back. Yes he is right about the power commander you dont need it. I ran my micron full system and K&N filter for about 6 months with no issues, however when i finally stumped up the cash for a power commander I couldnt believe the difference it made. Smooths the response right through the rev range!!! Oh and Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's. Ive never used a better tyre!!!

Hmm .. on hearing that i've been edged towards another Scorpion as i had one on my little CBR125 and the build quality was excellent. I guess anything would be better than the "Wolf" i have now, it looked like it had been slapped together and then kicked round the garden.

Can I ask where you got your tyres from, as we would be interested in those. Oddly, we were only looking on the Michelin website a couple of days ago, and according to that they don't make the Pilot Power 2CT in either a 160 or a 170 size.
