Exhaust removal question.
Hello,
I have a Fuel exhaust that I am thinking of fitting to my SV. I cant bring myself to cut the original, so i'll get a used one. My question is, can I remove the exhaust from the bike by undoing the clamps and not disturbing the flange bolts? Regards Steve |

Re: Exhaust question
Do you mean the exhaust header flanges?
The pipes at the clamps & joints get pretty crudded up and are difficult to separate in situ. But biggest problem will be the clamps themselves. I seem to recall mine disintegrating when I showed them the spanner. No big deal as I got some Mikalor ones to replace them. Plenty of Plus Gas on them before attempting disassembly. But I'd go the easier option of removing the whole exhaust system, just take extra time to soak the front exhaust flange nuts in plus gas first and not using much oomph to try and remove them, other wise you'll break the studs. The rear exhaust isn't so difficult, just soak the clamp in plus gas as well

Re: Exhaust question
I cut 60mm from weld to clear the honeycomb inside the pipe. Fuel said 50mm but I would have cut into the mesh stuff.
