Default 2 problems

not sure if they are connected but here goes
not used bike for over a month (since i connected hot grips) so i connected optimate last night, this morning i have 2 green lights on it

so, i take the blade to visit mother in hospital everything ok on the way down, hotgrips on full & sidelights on.
but
1) coming back with hotgrips on full & lights on, somtimes when slowing down for roundabouts etc when i pull the clutch in the bike would stall, i would then just have to bump it, or start it off the button

2) bike seemed very spluttery only on the way back, i put £7 in this morning, as it was a bit low & has been stood a while there is petrol in it now & i have only done about 45 miles

when i rev the bike with the lights on they get a little bit brighter, i think this means somthing like the bike is charging the battery?

It's damn cold around here at the moment hovver, probably fuel icing (can happen on FI bikes too). Cutting out when slowing down for junctions is a super classic symptom. I believe silkolene pro fst is an additive to get round this.

Lights getting brighter is pretty normal when revving but varies from bike to bike, some hardly do it, on some it's easier to see. If the bike ahs enough power to start off the button I doubt it's causing running probs.

Never known a modern Honda to do that!

Could you be drawing to much power from the battery to run you grips, lights and engine???

Wouldn't expect grips to overload the alternator like that, unless you've got stupid wattage bulbs in it?

Could be worth checking the charging circuits over, easy enough to do, but IMO its just as likely to be playing up because its cold and not been used for a while.

the lights only get a bit brighter, when the engine is reved, i thought that this was a way of testing if the charing system is working?

That doesn't seem unusual to me, worth checking out though as its an easy thing to do.

Then if thats all alright then see if it still gives problems when its in use a bit more.

Lights getting brighter and the fact that it starts on the button means the charging circuit should be fine.

Might be the fuel, either dirt in it or icing or he might just be playing up so you'll ride him more!!

The symptoms do sound exactly like carb icing... But I've no idea what your bike has. It's very common for bikes lights to get brighter when you rev it past idle, it's one of those things they always say in bike magazine articles as a faultfinder but frankly it's a load of rubbish.

My 2002 CBR600F does that! It's got a brand new battery (well from a couple of months ago, but I did check this then too). I don't see why it would be a fault, the more you rev it, the more power the alternator can produce and so the lights get brighter?
