2007 model, Cat D write off. Says only the fork tubes were bent and that's all thats been replaced. Would an insurance co really write off a bike cos it needed new fork tubes?? Are bikes basically disposable unfixable items to insurance companies? Or was the thing mashed and he's full of crap?? |

IMO, HPI it and then have a careful look over it.
If it runs and rides as well as he says then I wouldn't be too worried about it.

On the surface it looks like a steal for someone. Dependent on what the reserve is set at though.
As far as I am aware. Any vehicle less than 6 months old that has had a significant prang is automatically written off. I know that is the case when some dozy bint drove into the side of my brand new 3 month old car. Only damage was to the two doors on one side. It was written off and I was given a brand new one as a replacement. |

I thought you'd be doing a superman if you hit a car with enough force the bend the forks

A guy I know lodged his front wheel into the wing of a car, the bike was stuck there upright despite him being about 10 feet down the side after flying over the bonnet uninjured

If you ever take a fork to bits, they are surprisingly thin, 2 - 3mm maybe?
I'm not interested in it myself, but I do like to look around. I'll own an SV one day maybe. |
