Today while riding down and back to weymouth i noticed that my bike (2007 ZX6R)has a few flat spots on the revv range. Noticable at about 8K , 11K and 13K.
Bearing in mind it is still being run in and covered only 570 miles so far i know i should not be doing those revs. But when opening the throttle from closed to open or heavy acceleration causes noticable flat spots at said rev range , any ideas what can be causing it guys?? after and berfore those revs its fine and dandy and after about !)K generally it flies, got to 123 in 3rd today ![]() |

Get the first service done, then see if it still does it.If it does take it straight back to the dealer and get them to sort it.
Obviously dont mention it before as they will say you damaged it by not following the running in schedule.

yeah i will, not noticed it before this afternoon. I did not let the bike warm up before riding home ,and it was cold so could be that. HOpe its nothind serious. I will take it back if after the first service and on a warmish day its still doing it. Just semed to take ages to build speed in any gear from about 7.5-8.5K on windingthe throtle open all the way. I know that to get the best out of the 6 you have to keep it above 10K but even so it annoyd me at noticing it!! ![]() |

Do you mean throttle lag/snatchy throttle...in that there is a bit of hesitancy if you suddenly crack the throttle open? Thats not uncommon and can be cured with a PC/remap if it bothers you.
SHould have got an R6. HTH. ![]() |

The allegedly most important reason for the rev limit on running in is to de burr/swarf the engine and bed in the moving bits. The oil change is very important before sustained warp drive. The odd rev out should not harm it though and arguabely does it some good. Try it after the service, I know someone else with a ZX6R the same model as yours and will ask him if its the same. It's about the same age as yours.

Hi mate,ok so its not a bike ,but my car felt flat across the entire range,Jumped in it yesterday for the first time since christmas and because the misses had clocked up a few miles ,I could really feel the diff.As said above, get the service out of the way and give it time to free up

Also i have just looked on the power curves in an old copy of Fast bikes mag and at around the revs i am describing the power band dips off of flattes of for a bit before picking up again. First service next week and ill see if that makes any differance. If when i get to the 1000 mile mark its still doing it i ll be back to the dealer to get them to take it out and see if they think there is a problem with it! |

I doubt you would get much joy from the dealer. Far better putting it on a dyno first so that you can go to the dealer armed with a piece of paper.
