Default Al almost down - but back up now.

Where: Salford Circus Roundabout, coming from M6/A38 south straight over the roundabout to Tyburn Road

http://www.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en...&t=h&z=17&om=0

When: About 6:30

What happened: Two lanes onto roundabout, two lanes off. Both lanes are 'marked' on the road and "laned" round the RB, so you can legitimately stay in the left hand lane and go straight ahead (I know you can anyway, but that's not the point). Anyway, I was in the left hand lane, waiting to set off. I clocked a car coming down A5127 (from the right) towards the RB - note he WASN'T on it yet. I started off, and was fully on the roundabout when he wast still level with "Cuckoo Road". I carry on in my lane round normally, and he comes screeching round and just after the end of the 'entry' slipway onto the Aston Express Way (ie my first exit, reference point B on the map) he drifts into my lane, without looking - I can see in one of those slow motion moments that he's looking over his right shoulder, not his left (where I am) and low and behold strikes me - feel the bumper graze my right outside of shin, and proceeds to pile into the crash bang, then to the indicator, and finally smashing the fairing. Bike almost went down, but managed to wobble/slide/hop to the hashed area direclty under the overpass, (just before ref point C on the map), shaking and shouting loudly. Needless to say he didn't stop, but a couple of blokes came running over from the pub to check I was OK - sadly none of them got his number plate. I wasn't too worried about the bike - the crash bung absorbed the worst, and my fairings held together with fiberglass mapping and super glue from last years incidents, but I was bloody glad I had the crash bung otherwise I think my leg would have been badly damaged...

So, if you're riding around BHam and see a black civic or similar car with a bit of damage to the left side wing/bonnet, grab his reg and let me know!

Cheers,

Al.

I'd have been after him and made sure I got him to stop! (and put one or two more dints in the side of the car with me boot for him too!) glad to hear you're not mashed and squashed!

Ooh Jesus Al ... nasty one glad you're ok tho (if a little shaken) ... and well done on keeping it upright - I'd have probably dropped like the proverbial bag 'o' sh*te. Sad to say seems to be the season for idiotic/impatient car drivers and it just ain't the weather to be hasty :/

So it seems like he just tore up behind you and ran you off the roundabout almost?! Sounds crazy, glad you managed to see it all and keep from getting knocked off.

Pretty much... I didn't really see it all - it was more of a natural reaction thing - it all slowed down and seemed to go in slow motion... It was more of a 'clocking' him on the approach to the roundabout, and seeing him in the peripheral vision has he drew level with my side...

First time it's really happened - quite scary.

have you reported him anyway? if you've got the approximate year, ie: old shape, new shape whatever, black honda civic with damage down the left hand side, the traffic cops would be able to spot a dodgy motor like that a mile off, plus leaving the scene of an accident with witnesses saying he was driving like a ****, i'd imagine they'd be at least mildy interested if they're bored... might be worth a shot before you claim on your own policy, or at least keep receipts for later...

Al, really glad you are OK, well held!

Make sure you report the RTC to the Cops. Chaces are slim the driver will be ID'd unless CCTV is available, but you never know!

Amazing, get it reported or go and find him!!

Suppose your lucky there is no more damage considering you have to sort it.

Go and get a pint in the pub nearby and keep an eye out around that time of night. Maybe he commutes that way every night, worth a shot if your passing anyway?
