Not strictly a race can, it's a Fuel Stainless Steel Oval. Baffle out improves running if you ask me. Seems to run more free and happier to rev hard, and seems to reach the red line quicker. Only had it since xmas, but I'd probably only put the baffle back in for a motorway run to cut out the drone or if I was going somewhere with a lot of police.

Scorpion oval here, so again, not a race can.
I haven't found any issues (perhaps a little leaner running but nothing overly concerning). I'm thinking of putting the baffle back in, mainly because of the quality of noise. I'm not sure if it sounds better with it in or out. I know it sounds louder with it out, but that's not always better. Though, it did my head in when I had to quickly pop it back in before a chat with plod, then I rode around with the baffle in for a few days. No noticable difference other than noise level/quality. If you're at all concerned, get it remapped. £120 ish IIRC from a decent dealer. No point in faffing with a power commander on an SV IMO. EDIT: If I ride at speed, the wind noise is louder than the exhaust, so it doesn't bother me on long runs. Earplugs. ![]() |

Baffle only goes in for MOT so save any awkardness.
I never understood why folk bought a fancy aftermarket exhaust and left the baffle in. Until cutting about with the baffle in for a coupla days (my neighbours complained they were sleeping in ![]() ![]() If you are looking for "free" noise, rip out the rubber snorkel at the front of the airbox. The harsh induction honk you get drowns out my unbaffled pipe at speed or big throttle openings. ![]() No probs with either mod, used everyday. If you were getting a full exhaust system with no other mods (ie PCIII) I would get the fuelling checked. ![]() |

Baffle? Whatsat then?
My MOT place failed it cuz my sticker covering the NOT FOR ROAD USE had started to peel. He told me to grind it off with a dremel or something so I filled it with JB Weld and painted a band around the can. Hey presto, it passed! |

I have a Blueflame Titanium Tri-oval, so again not a race can.
It comes with a baffle and a cap type thing for the second hole. With both out the noise is massive and easily sets off car alarms and even my house alarm as I'm rolling upto it........however, with both out it makes LOTS of noise but just does not seem to pull aswell through the gears. With both in its rubbish sounding but feels to pull ALOT better but still seems slightly restricted. With the main baffle in the big hole and the cap off the little hole is when its seems at its happiest, the noise is alot sharper than when both is out and it feels to pull very strongly anywhere you want it, and setup this way is my recommendation. |
