Doesnt seem to affect the battery too much (in terms of current drain), as the bike was stood for 6 weeks or so before I got the maximiser, and it always started fine... HTH, BB. |

A ground anchor and a dirty great big chain like an Almax.
Seriously if they want your bike they'll take it eletronic immobiliser or not, where a chain and a ground anchor is much more of a deterant IMHO. I'd find out from an insurance point of view how much difference it will make to your premium versus the cost of the imobiliser first if I was you. I have a Meta 357T on my GSXR which I have found works much better than the data tool does on my SV, but I know other people have said before that they prefer the data tool over the Meta. Its down to personal choice in the end.

I don't see the point in an immobiliser, most bikes are stolen by being lifted into a van! I have recently removed a immobiliser for a friend on his ZXR, took me just over an hour to dismantle everything and reassemble on a bike and system I have never worked on before.
Alarms get heard/noticed when they go off, but how many people now a days do anything about it? As fizzwheel said, get a ground anchor and a decent chain. Its more of a deterrent. |

I've got a system 4 on mine, and it can be a bit awkward at times (usually fishing out the dongle from wherever its hidden itself).
Its got to the point where I take my gloves off automatically when I kill the ignition, so I can find it easier. At least you can wheel it around on immobiliser to wash it and stuff. |

I don't think I've ever used the service mode - power on and off with the kill switch on resets it to immobile only (alarm goes off when you switch the key on, instead of the fuel pump whirr). Its generally silent unless you knock it hard (to trip the tip sensor), and if its on a paddock stand you can spin the wheel to do the chain as well.
