Curvy or Pointy
Hi, very new to biking. Am looking to buy a SV650 ( about £2000 to spend).
Can someone please clarify the difference between a pointy and curvy. Just honest opinions of comparison would be nice as well but i don't want to start any wars! Thanks michelle |

Re: Curvy or Pointy
Curvy's have carbs, pointy's are fuel injected. That and the looks are the main difference. Curvy's are lower than the early pointy's too, although Suzuki realised their mistake with the later bikes.
Pointy's suck, curvy's rule. That is all

Re: Curvy or Pointy
I had a curvy before the pointy I know have. I personally prefer the looks of the pointy. I found the curvy easier to ride straight off as the carbs are slightly smoother than the fuel injection. I find my pointy alot sharper! (excuse the pun) but then that could be the fact that my curvy wasn't exactly immaculate. I did find the curvy slightly more comfy but that could be a personal thing. Id say take both for a ride and then decide that pointy's are better.

Re: Curvy or Pointy
Pointy is best, looks the part and benefits from FI. Depends on which you think looks nicer really, both do the same job.
Curvy just looks dated IMO, mebbe in 5 years it'll start looking good again when it becomes retro. |

Re: Curvy or Pointy
You should get an extremely clean curvy for 2k, a pointy at this price is likely to be a little bit more worn I'd imagine, even though it'll be newer.

Re: Curvy or Pointy
And don't forget to budget for all your riding kit if you haven't already got it, it can all soon add up.
