Verna has something wierd going on with her Excel.
The main menu bar [file, edit, view etc] is in the wrong order! Never ever seen it before and at a loss, along with thier IT department, or at least thats what they think they are. Also when the drop downs apprear, you cant seem to select the items correctly. The verison of ecel is accessed via a web service on a thin client (dont ask why, its a screwed up company) and as far as she knows, all is well with the other users. So has anyone come across it, and know how to solve it? |

i know it sounds weird but a while ago my microsoft word done somethinglike this. After baffling the it department and a large amounts of work spent unistalling reinstalling, they recreated a new profile for me. Hey presto. problem fixed.
May be somehting to do with this if your company has a huge server and roaming profiles? |

Is it just Verna thats got the problem or is it all the users ?
If its just Verna so as said above sounds like her user profie is messed up. Or shes done a custom setup on her menu system. Get them to backup and then scrap her user profile and then login again and it should sort it. Some of the Microsoft Apps do funny things when running under Citrix or Terminal Services. So that also might be causing a problem, especially if its an older version of office. If you get totally stuck let me know. I used to be a Citrix Guru but not as much any more but I can ask one of the other techies what he thinks.

Make sure they backup her profile first. If she has stuff saved on her desktop or in my documents it might well be in the profile and if they junk it she'll loose all her documents. Which wont be very good. The I.T. dept there sound daft enough to do that to.
Metaframe is what we have. I set it up ages ago, But its been so long since I had to touch it that I've forgotten most about how it works. Sounds like a right mess, also sounds like they are migrating from one system to another....

We took MS office off the Citrix servers as if you were running one version of windows and the server was running another it upset the balance somehow. Also shags the server if all user of office are n at the same time. Its better to have office installed and run from the PC's and just saved on the servers.

I'm a CCEA and do quite a lot citrix consultancy so post up again if you don't get it sorted.
If citrix is set up properly it's reliable with office. Different versions just takes a bit of care when installing. If she can't get it sorted post up the screenshot as suggested. If set up properly group policy should be redirecting My Documents to a user directory on a file server and if she's permitted so save to the desktop this should have been redirected too. So all blasting her profile should do is loose history, saved passwords, cookies, predictive entry on email addresses and web adddresses, etc. Possibly internet favorites if the IT support guys haven't got the noddle to copy them over from the old profile, as Fizz says they should just backup or rename it rather than delete it until they have the new one set up. I can't deduce from the description what the problem is, but if only affecting her, user profile is the first place I'd look. Last edited by -Ralph-; 15-02-08 at 09:32 PM. |
