Question 99 Sv Help

I bought a 99 SV650 a few months ago and have ridden it only a couple of times. So far it seemed to run well until the other day I drove it about 10 miles and it ran fine. When I returned home I shut it off to open my garage. Upon restarting it everytime I tried to put it into gear it would die. It doesnt matter how much I rev it or whether I put it in 1st or 2nd gear it just dies? I let it sit for a while and tried it again. It worked fine the first couple of times but then the problem persisted. Any help would be great I am looking forward to riding once it warms up here in NE.

engine kill switch short, clutch switch, or sidestand.

Cheers Mark.

The sidestand is the bit on the left hand side of the bike that holds it up when you are done riding it. If it's down when you try and put it in gear, the engine cuts out.

Yes there's a switch on the side stand, leads to the relay, you can't have it in gear with the stand down.

Or a better idea is to use the whole lot as christmas tree decorations and not do anything stupid in the first place
