Hello peeps, I know we have chewed the cud over the KTM RC8 previously but thought the bike well worthy of me sharing this little tale with you all.
Today is a holiday in this part of Spain and so I took my mutt for a walk earlier than normal along the sea front of Marbella. Almost at the end of our walk and what should I spy all parked nicely together? Yep 3 of these gorgeous bikes all in a row! ![]() I knew what they were immediately that I saw the shape of them and I have to tell you that the angular appearance first imagined,is not so apparent when you see them upfront and close. They are a truly stunning machine with such fine attention to detail and quality of finish and components. I am not altogether convinced about my present top of the shopping list bike,(the Ducati 84 ![]() This is a really serious contender for both Ducati and Aprilia in the big Vee twin stakes and maybe all will be proven when prices are anounced. The bike is to be released for sale sometime in March I believe. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well after drooling for a rather long time obver the bikes I set off for home once more along the paseo. Just 50 metres along I spotted 3 guys in leathers sat eating ice cream. I spoke to them in English as frankly my German is crap and their Spanish the same! It turned out that these were 3 of KTM's factory test riders. Maybe they have featured in some of the great promo videos the Austrian factory produces? They told me that they are here on a test launch at the privately owned Ascaro track up in the mountains near Ronda. Today they then decided to go for a blast down my usual playground road to test the bikes also. I know they work for the factory but their eyes simply lit up when telling what the bikes is like to ride and corner on! They also told me that the engine is 100% KTM and a bike has been tested on Tenerife clocking 50'000Km with no problems at all! Well enough for me to say that as I personally know the KTM dealer here in Marbella, I will be speaking to him in order to blag a test ride as after now seeing them, I have a real taste for this excellent machine. they do look awesome - except for that big slab of white fairing coming down behind the front wheel, it does nothing for me.
shame it only comes in white or orange, it would be much better in black Last edited by maultin; 28-02-08 at 05:39 PM. |

I couldn't afford one (nor the insurance!) at the moment, but those look really, really nice. Oddly, the bike looks much better in them than the professional magazine pictures I've seen of them. Both this and the new V4 Aprilia look to knock the 999R off my "The bike I'd buy if £20K fell into my lap" bike.

Very nice.
DO KTM have intentions to get these into WSB? After last weekends racing (esp witha circuit Ducati have never won at) winning twice, I can forsee a big advantage for Ducati, and would like to see KTM come in and fight them off (queue Ducati 1198 ![]() |
