Default 13th Apr, Grafham Water to Hunstanton

Ok ,thanks to BigBaddad we have a route.

Meeting from 9am to leave at 10am at the Harbour View Restuarant/Cafe

Taking a cross country route to arrive around 1pm at Sunny Hunny. We'll have a break roughly half way for fag, drink etc.

Couple of hours chilling in the sun (!) then homeward bound.

Below is a link to the route plan, and to the local petrol station. Can everyone fill up prior to arriving at the cafe. Also a plan of where the meet point is and opening times.

As long as nothing drastic happens between now and then you can put me down for the ride.

I've also ordered myself a 4Kam helmet cam today, so all being well I'll also grab some footage.

As this will be my first outing, what happens on the way back, do we go back the same route? Or the quickest route? Do people peel off home on the way back or do we ride half the way back and then all go our separate ways?

One final question, what's the pace like? I'm not one of these people that like to go into corners at full tilt but mearly go for the scenery and enjoyment.

Hi Seggons

We like to think we cater for all abilities and speeds. Not to say we ride slowly, but with the marker system everyone can ride at their own pace.

As for the return journey, there's sure to be someone heading back to your neck of the woods that you can ride part if not most of the way with.

Just for a brief idea, as this is your first rideout

Rideout tips and ideas

Introduce yourself to the ride organiser and swap moby numbers with him and at least 1 other participant

Full tank of gas or as near as is practically possible.

Tyre pressures checked and in good condition.

Breakdown cover. Check if your bike is covered in the event of an accident or breakdown. Full recovery is best. And make sure you have contact numbers for them.

ICE (In case of emergency numbers) These should be in your phone under that heading. Should someone need to be contacted on your behalf.

Map. If you haven't got proper ones then rip out the page(s) of an old map book, or get a photocopy, or print one off the internet. It is NOT the responsibility of the organiser to get you home.

Waterproofs. Just because it's sunny doesn't mean it's gonna stay so.

If you're using a dark visor, bring your clear one as well.

ICE to include breakdown/recovery service, plus make clear names and relationships. DON'T pin-lock your phone. Make sure phone is charged and has call credit.

Bring some cash as not all places will take a card.

Try to put your phone in a place it will easily be found should the worst happen.

DO Keep an eye on your mirrors.

DO Ride responsibly.

DO Stagger your position on the road so as to maximise forward
observation and braking distances.

DO ENJOY YOURSELF

DON'T Do anything you're not comfortable with. It's not a race .

DON'T Follow too close to the bike in front and don't fixate on them.

DON'T Assume the rider in front knows what he's doing.

DON'T Stop if one of the group get pulled over.

DON'T Worry about keeping up and what the others might think.

DON'T CRASH!

Depending on time, work, assignments, and which bike is roadworthy I may either tag along or simply meet folks at Grafham for a cuppa...

... and return the brekkie favour to Pete n Lissa.

EDIT: Thread stickied and link added into the Org's calander.
