Question Experimentation type thingy!!

So there I was with the forks out spraying them black!!

When I put them back in I decided to drop the yokes down by 12mm.

Good idea or bad idea?

What can I expect?

Any thoughts welcome!!

Should make the bike slightly less stable, but quicker turning. You may find (not sure cos I think you've changed shock, can't remember springs?) that you're ground clearance may be affected.

Standard SV rear shock, Progressive front springs and 15w oil, 4 preload rings showing.

Might feel some sort of differance...but I doubt not alot, as it'll stil be bouncy on the front. Maybe I'll try the same thing aswell, see what happens

Why dont you go out and ride it and tell us what you find

Yup, it'll speed up steering.

Is ground clearance likely to be affected?

10mm is the usual for dropping the forks on SV's, for both curvys and pointys. I know that with 10mm you won't have any ground clearence issues or front tyre rubbing issues.

Just be careful with stability issues if you haven't got a damper fitted. The first you are likely to find out it is affected is when you need it most, ie: coming out of a bend hard on the gas and you catch a bump, especially if it is a left hander and there is some oncoming traffic! Personally I'd have done 5mm first, tried it, then gone for 10mm.

Yep! I'll go back to 10mm. I've not had problems yet but I'll go easy until I've readjusted them.

Cheers
