Default Budget 2008 - Car/Bike/Vehicle Tax = ???

From what I could understand (unless I have misinterpreted it) from the recent budget, in 2009 they are changing the way road tax works. Everything is becoming a 'vehicle' and it will entirley be based on emmisions.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/News...2008/DG_073093

What emmisions does a pre 2007 sv650 give out? and what banding are we going to fall into?

Road tax could start becoming expensive.

No, just follow the link at the bottom of the page you linked to (this link)

Scroll down and see the Motorcycle section

(just realised it will cut and paste - so here it is)

Motorcycle (with or without a sidecar) (TC17)
Engine size (cc) 12 months rate 6 months rate
Not over 150 £15.00 Not applicable
151-400 £33.00 Not applicable
401-600 £48.00 Not applicable
Over 600 £66.00 £36.30

[edit - ok so I had to manually reformat]

They are the current prices, not the 2008 budget prices that will be in place from 2009

Ah ok - thought you were looking for 2008-2009 prices.

2009-2010 prices will probably just be 2008-2009 doubled......

Its based on emmisions. I think from one of your previous posts you have an older porsche? I should imagine that it will be rather high

I would like some regard for the fact that the emissions in producing a motorcycle are that much smaller than those in car manufacture (based on the sheer quantity of metal dand specifically plastics manufactured). As well as the fact the buying second hand cars involve no manufacturing emissions. But I suppose looking for any degree of sensibility in this would be ridiculous
