Arai helmet inspection service?

Hi,

Does anyone know if Arai offer a helmet inspection service?

I had a low speed off on my SV and hit the back of my head on the road. The (cosmetic) damage looks minimal on the helmet, and as it cost £300 and was only a couple of months old I'm reluctant to buy another unless I really have to. I know, what price would you put on your head etc, but if its not damaged, it seems silly to replace it!

I'd like to get it inspected by Arai if possible. Anyone? Their website was no help..

Pop into your nearest HG store, they're a helpfull bunch and will more than likely be able to sort it for you.

Somebody in here had a lid inspected by Arai and IIRC it was a free service , the guys you need to speak to are Phoenix Distribution , they are the sole importers for Arai in the UK .

thanks for your replies. I have spoken to Hein Gericke, if I take the lid into their store and pay ?5 p&p they will send it off for free inspection, so thats what i'll be doing later.

Well that`s pretty good as it`d cost you about 8 quid to send by Royal Snail due to size and volume ..... bargain

Well, I drove for 45 minutes to get to Hein Gericke. Went in and spoke to the guy who i'd spoken to earlier on the phone. He asked me where I bought the helmet from , and when I told him it was J&S Birmingham he said well there's no point in sending it to Arai (Phoenix Distribution), as J&S are not an approved Arai dealer therefore they won't touch it.

I then took it to J&S who said they can't send them back because they are not a '5 star' Arai dealer and gave me the address & phone number of Phoenix Distribution.

I will call them on Monday and see where I get... but shall we mighty annoyed if they won't even look at it just because I unwittingly bought my helmet from a non approved Arai dealer, which of course J&S do not advertise.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Well that just plain sucks man , give Phoenix a call as no matter where it has come from it`s still an Arai and needs testing . Tell Phoenix you got it from HG

has it got its birthday stamped on the leather bit of the chin strap?

yeah, it says 10/06. I bought it in 07/07.
