Unhappy problems after oil change

Today I flushed the engine and replaced oil and filter.

Now before i did this gear selection was fine.

now i have problems engaging 2nd from 1st or neutral from 2nd or neutral at all. if i turn the engine off finds neutral fine. has also been jumping up through the gears as well.

not too sure why this has happened but the gear lever feels solid.

clutch and all has been checked.

any ideas??

no. its not been touched. If the bike is started in first it feels like its trying to creep, which is why checked clutch but alls fine

Check that your oil level is good, I have seen this affect the gear selecting.

I have just changed my oil and I put to much in (must wait for oil to settle before adding more) this caused the creeping you said about on mine. Drained some off and all is well now.

I'd agree with DoubleD. Too much oil and the clutch drags and gear / neutral selection can be difficult

Yea, sounds like over-filling of oil. Likewise, things can get a bit notchy if theres a bit less oil than there should be.

Check the oil levels, if its too much, then I assume all you have to do is un-nip the sump plug and let the oil trickle out, watching the level as you go? might need a mate to help though?

checked the oil levels. pretty sure its just under the maximum line. just can't think what else would cause it. Just hope it wasn't the engine flush

if it is to much oil then just open the sump plug and drain some out, have a rag handy as the oil just goes everywhere when you try and put the plug back in while it is still draining..... trust me on this
