Default De-greasing tank paint

I've got some tech-grip to put on the bike (a bit like stomp grip) & in the instructions it says de-grease tank paint with carb/brake cleaner. Just wanted to double check it's OK to use this on the paintwork as I'm a bit wary?

Cheers

Just a suggestion, take of the pillion seat and try it on a bit of paint under there or under the main seat.

Zippo lighter fuel will do the job and is safe , or you can use Isopropyl Alcohol .

I've got alcohol swabs, I'll give that a try in the morning. I'll come & get you though if it takes the paint off!

As long as it is Isopropyl Alcohol you will be fine , I work in an optronics company and we use Iso on glass and plastics as it`s oil based , evaporates quite quickly , leaves no marks or grease behind and doesn`t damage any of our protected surfaces

I used Zippo lighter fuel to desticker my Orange mountain bike frame before applying fresh Decals , worked a treat , didn`t damage the paint and was available from local stores .

Yep it's definitely IPA.

Test it on a safe area first just in case they have anything else in the mix as it were , but I`m confidant that you are good to go

Test it on a spot under the tank if you are not 100% sure.
