Default Parrafin

Ok got my new bike now, but it's dirty and needs a bloody good clean. I've got some parrafin and I'm wondering if I brush/spray it on and hose it off, would I be in danger of damaging anything i.e. Brakes, engine, paint (although I don't intend to cover the bodywork in parrafin, I was going to take the fairings off). I just don't want to cause any problems by using it liberally.

I'd definately keep it away from the brake pad areas as the pads will absorb some and never be quite the same again.

I use paraffin in a spray bottle, and its great for getting chain lube off the back wheel, and de-greasing the chain...just make sure you rinse it well, and re-apply lube to any places where the paraffin has got to (not just the chain, but also footrest pivots etc...

WD40 is paraffin based, so in short don't put it anywhere where you wouldn't put WD40!!

Its fairly inert stuff to be honest, safe on OE paintwork etc etc, especially if you intend to wash it off after shifting all the muck so it is not like it is staying covered/submerged in paraffin!

Tyres and rubber (brake seals etc) is an obvious area you don't want to really expose to paraffin, but don't fret if you get a bit on the tyres wheels cleaning the wheels, as long as you wash it off pronto and don't purposely get it on there ... the odd splash as long as it is wiped/washed off reasonably promptly won't be any bother
