Trouble swinging radiator forward!

I'm giving my bike an oil/oil filter, air filter and plug change and can't swing the radiator forward to get to the front plug.

I've removed the lower bolt and loosened the upper two. It moves slightly, but nowhere near enough to get to the plug.

Any help would be great!

when i was messing with the front plug, the radiator did seem to have a very finite distance of motion

...but was still enough just to get the plug spanner in with a fiddle

if thats the case? (although i am useless so... wait till someone knowledgeable comes on)

Are you using the plug spanner that came with the bike? The rad doesn't need to move a great deal to get it in as it is hinged.

Remove the horn, it's a 10mm hex head bolt

Curvey?? You also have to unplug the rad pegs into the rubber grommets in each fairing side.

It's not necessary to remove the fairing, just undo the fixings and flex it outwards a bit. A bit of soapy water as lube can help if the grommets are stuck onto the pegs.

Rad plugs? I've loosened the upper mounting bolts as described in the manual, which is specific to my bike (yep, curvy, 2000).

Pull the fairing gently, either side at the bottom. Theres a mount either side that sits in a rubber mount.

This is the locating mount on the rad. One each side.

Brilliant, thanks! I thought something must still be holding it, despite the manual telling me otherwise. I'll let you know how I get on!!

No problem. I have a smallblock of wood that I use to keep the rad forward as it's under tension from the hoses. Also there is a drain hole in the front head which you should make sure is clear. It's useful for draining the spark plug hole before extracting the plug. I use WD40.
