France Trip - Turns To Adventure!
Let me tell you all a little story....(with piccies)
the date is thursday 22nd may 2008. Time approx 06.35 and there are 6 bikers waiitng in the wings of the ferry port to start a nice little day trip in France. here we all are.. SO we board the ferry. Chugging along nicley relaxing and being plonkers like wideboy here with his thumbs up we are all talkling about how many sleepy french towns we will disrupt whilst being here. approx 2 hours into the journey the tanoy system bursts into life.."ding dong" some French super fast speaking women comes over it telling us due to fisherman blocking the cherbourg port we cannot get into it. we are going else where but not sure of the destination!!!! only consensus now is to sit back and relax. Brilliant. Not only have i overdosed on sickness tablets to stop me being sick i now had to endure another 2 hours on this fast cat thingy which is a mobile puke machine.... Still....we finally arrive in caen. we approach the desk to find out how we are getting home and told that there is a ferry leaving at 4.15 giving us less than 2 hours in France or one leaving a midnight with a 8 hour sailing across arriving at Portsmouth at 7am British time. we decide on the midnight one. So off we chug.....around france. brillinat really enjoyed the widing roads the sleepy towns, the ar$e coffe and the expensive coke! Sat nav decides to run out of batteries also so we brought a map to get us by! so some pics of what we done and the bikes THEN LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE ORG>>>>>>>DISASTER STRIKES. IT RAINS.....AND LOOK AT BLUETOS BIKE So we get top the ferry port about 9 ish to get our midnight ferry and i have adose of OCD and clean my bike.... ALL of a sudden we see a fast cat pulling up and are told that that is for the passengers who couldent get back form cherbourg...(thats us) so i ask if we can get on that and they let us. arrive back in the UK at 1 am of the ferry through passport control and into bed! the route we ended up doing was about 160 miles going to st mere eglise, following coastal roads up through the beaches and back to caen. a superb day i think enjoyed by all and hope to do it again sometime soon when the fisherman stop being silly! |

Great little adventure. Well done for not letting the striking French ruin your day.

Re: France Trip - Turns To Adventure!
You were lucky not to get caught out there. Its not the fishermen(??) that are striking. My bessie mate lives in France and her husband is a trucker, he was lucky to get back over too. According to the french source( as she was telling me only t'other day) that the French are\were boycotting(if thats the word) the ferries in protest for the fuel prices over there. But unlike us silly lot that only do a half measure the French do it properly and cause havoc........and the fuel pricing is only the tip, its in a long line of excuses to do a protest because a lot of them don't like their new PM either......
French stakeout ya gotta love. Glad you had a good day, its nice over there isn't it

Re: France Trip - Turns To Adventure!
one question though, the French don't have many of the 'pee in a hole' toilet anymore as they get more civilised, so why is this person attempting to pee in the sink
