SV650s Indicators Voltage and bulb size

One of my indicators was snapped off before replacing it i checked the voltage of the indicator with my multimeter as I was failing to get a connection on the broken indicator. The multimeter was showing a voltage of 5.2V with the engine off and the indicator on is this normal? I always assumed they should be 12V’s?

Secondly can somebody sell me a single mini indicator or a pair of mini indicators?

I would have thought it should be 12v too, however are they LED indys because there might be a resistor in line to stop them flashing too fast.

indicators flash, unless you have a very quick mulitmeter it won't register 0--12--0--12--0 etc but give you an average-ish value in between, i learnt this whilst wiring a tow hitch to my car

A test light is your friend for indicators and wiring in general.

Sometimes as there's no current flow to a voltmeter (negligble anyway) it'll show voltage but won't flow enough current to work whatever it is you're troublshooting.

With a couple of croc clips, gaffer tape and a spare bulb you can troubleshoot allsorts.


Are you checking at the bulb connector or at the connector under the tail?
