Default BikeSafe Video

Stolen from VD.

What are your opinions and views on this?

He looks quick smooth to me. I reckon that if it was me on the bike I would be all over the shop

Hmm, overall, he's more smooth than I am, and I'm sad to say that he hang back from cars before the overtake far more than I do (though I'm working on that).

There's a couple of faults I'd pick with his lines though. For example, the right hand bend with the white van, I wouldn't of been that near the van. Also I saw what looked to be a driveway (white side road), possibly covered in gravel, and he got a little too close to the gravel for my liking, but then, I can't see the surface and I'm assuming it's gravel.

EDIT: Just watched it again, it was hard to spot the first time around, but maybe that van was inevitable. Looks like there's a pedestrian on the left waiting to cross. 50/50 positioning would put you closer to the van.

Is it me, or does his back end step out on one of the right handers somewhere 3-4mins in? That's not very smooth & controlled either, especially in the dry.

But like I said, still better than me.

Unfortunately that helicopter view doesn't give much information about what the copper is planning for, and merely shows it in a reactionary light. If the helicopter had of been at a lower angle it might of been better.

I wish they did bikesafe initiative in my area, i'd take up the chance for some police further training!

I like him using the other side of the road for a better line!

My one critisism is that he's not using the 'two second rule'. I know he's trying to overtake but for quite a while he seems too close. Riding lines are good though.

It looks like a nice piece of riding, the copter gives it a different type of view but not the best view for that type of display.

I never said it looked fun .

I just liked the fact he looked smooth and flowing compared to how I feel when I am riding. However, I guess after two months riding I still have room for improvement

I've been riding bikes for just over 21 years (~18 on the road) .. I don't ride like that, but more importantly don't want to ride like that - so will never learn!!

I have adopted my own riding style/way that I think has a happy combination of safety and speed/fun ... I am sure riding the police way is much 'safer' that my style, but the police way/IAM way is just not something I aspire to as it looks dull as feck!!!! (I am NOT for a second saying my way is 'better').

I KNOW my riding isn't the 'safest' as I take more risk, due to that I realise I might get splatted tomorrow (I really hope not, but fully accept that), but with 18yrs on the road so far under my belt, we can prolly assume that I have either been ridiculously lucky so far or the style I have adopted/the risks I take isn't/aren't all that bad!!!

So again, to summerise, its prolly the safest way to go about business, but where is the 'fun' ... and just coz you don't ride like that doesn't necessarily mean you won't last 5 mins out there, so what is all the fuss about?!

I see what ya saying Blue but the rozzas ain't gonna incourage you to ride any other than safely so that is all to expect from their vidoes.

Ya see, I should do a Bikesafe video, I will show you how to loose it on a virtually straight road and how to land on all fours getting both knees down , now you would find that one funny

You must be doing something right Blue to have that many years under ya belt, surely in some form you adopt the some of the advanced riding techniques ... go on admit it LOL
