Default noob help please

hi all.

some really simple questions for yas'all

looking to do chain adjustment, what size is the rear spindle nut? and any tips for adjusting it? have heard that they are easy to overtighten....

and does anyone know what the standard gearing is? mine will do about 66 mph in first. is this normal?

any help appreciated

cheers all

O and as for the size of the gear it will say on the rear sprocket what tooth it is and the front one is fairly easy 2 count how many teeth is on it.

i would say it would be around the 15/45 mark but as said the rear will say and the front you can just count.

Overtighten the chain or the Nut?
Chain - bike on side stand, put your weight on the bike and should have at least 25mm of free play up & down on the bottom run of the chain, then it won't be overtightened
Nut - 100Nm of torque IIRC which is quite a lot! but not too much (as a guide if you haven't got a torque wrench)

think thers a few sv1000 owners on here so im sure some of them can confirm if its a 24 on the 1000 but as said if its the same as the 2003 onwards sv650 then its a 24mm.
