Default shorting noise?

as title says. Off to AR tomorrow, suzy playing up. start her up, sat on tickover, shes slighlty rough on idle..carbs balanced....sit there a min, and theres a click or short noise ,and she cuts out. Coming from around the rear coil/spark plug area. I know this as I have the tank up at the mo.
Apart from this oddity shes seems to run fine, as i had her out yesterday for a run. YC came up to have a look and she was fine...today shes doing this again........what is this strange noise?

will she blow up tomorrow, can't find any chaffed wiring anywhere either

HELP...no mechanics available...just little me

When it gets dark, take another look at the rear HT lead, if the insulation has broken down you might see small sparks coming off the lead, and also sometimes a crackling noise can be heard.

It's difficult to diagnose a noise that can't be heard obviously, but if the noise is coming from the rear coil area it could be your trouble.

nope, no light show...lol. and she didn't cut out....me thinks the gremlins are being naughty, in the instances that this odd short type noise occurs...she has a lump or two on idle, the crackle appears, then she cuts

She didn't do it...its very intermittent, it didn't happen while YC was here yesterday either...grrrrrr

In that case it's definately worth a look. According to the maxim which holds that anything that's just been disturbed is a suspect.

Even new things.

Thinking about it especially new things.

That sucks.
That sucks more than still being at work posting useless comments over how much that sucks.

Hope you get it sorted. At least you've got a spare.

Motorcycles - who'd have only one??

3rd option:

Stick fingers in ears, repeat 'lalalalalalalalala' plenty and pretend it's all OK.

(I didn't say it was a good option - but it is an option)

I do have a spare, but suzy is supposed to be going to the AR, I've waited 18 months to get her to do massive distance. went to NW3 on a wing and a prayer, it nearly killed her off!! which leads me to.......

just what I was thinking.......but if she dares to do this in the morning, she will be put in a corner with a dunce hat on and the other one will be going to the party....FFS shes done 600 miles in 2 years, had money thrown at her, been stripped to bare bones, and lovingly put back together, threatened with a hammer..... and still those gremlins won't be banished

Could you see if there's interference on a TV while the engine is running?
